What is the 14 times table?

Answer

14, 28, 42, 56, 70, 84, 98, 112, 126, 140, 154, 168

Every row of the 14 times table is the row above it plus 14, so the table can be rebuilt from the first line instead of recalled whole. The whole grid from 1 to 10 is on the times table chart.

14 × 8112
14 × 9126
14 × 10140
14 × 11154
14 × 12168

The table runs to ×12 because that is how far it is taught in Britain; ×10 is where most other school systems stop. The last two rows follow the same rule as the rest, one step at a time.

14 × 12 = 168

How to Get the Next Row

A times table is repeated addition written out, so the next row is always the current one plus 14. Nothing has to be remembered except the step.

14 × 1 = 14

14 + 14 = 28 → 14 × 2 = 28

28 + 14 = 42 → 14 × 3 = 42

14 × 12 = 168

Rows that come free

  • ×5 is half of ×10: 14 × 5 = 140 ÷ 2 = 70.
  • ×9 is ×10 minus the number: 14 × 9 = 140 − 14 = 126.
  • ×11 is ×10 plus the number: 14 × 11 = 140 + 14 = 154.
  • ×12 is ×10 plus ×2: 14 × 12 = 140 + 28 = 168.

Check It, and What It Is Not

Check by swapping the factors. 14 × 3 = 42 and 3 × 14 = 42 are the same product, so every row of this table appears in another table too, and the two have to agree.

A table is not long multiplication. This page lists one number times 1 to 12; for a product worked out digit by digit, with the carries and the partial products, follow 14 × 12 = 168 into the long multiplication calculator.

The reverse operation is division. Reading the table backwards — 42 ÷ 14 = 3 — is exactly what long division does step by step.

Times Table Chart

A times table lists one number multiplied by each of 1 to 12 in turn, and every row is the row above it plus that same number — which is why the table can be rebuilt from memory instead of recalled from it. For example, it can help you find out what is the 14 times table? (The answer is: 14, 28, 42, 56, 70, 84, 98, 112, 126, 140, 154, 168). Enter a number from 1 to 100 (e.g. '14') to get its full table, the step-by-step build-up and the shortcuts that apply to it. The chart above holds the whole grid from 1 to 10, the part learnt by heart at school.

FAQ

What is the 14 times table?

14, 28, 42, 56, 70, 84, 98, 112, 126, 140, 154, 168

How do you learn the 14 times table?

By building it, not by reciting it. Each row is the row above plus 14 (14 + 14 = 28), so the table grows one addition at a time. Two rows come free: 14 × 5 = 140 ÷ 2 = 70, and 14 × 9 = 140 − 14 = 126.

What are the multiples of 14?

The first 12 are 14, 28, 42, 56, 70, 84, 98, 112, 126, 140, 154, 168. They keep going by 14 after that — a multiple of 14 is any number this table would eventually reach.

How do you check the 14 times table?

Swap the two factors. 14 × 3 = 42 and 3 × 14 = 42 are the same product, because multiplication is commutative — so every row of this table also appears in another table, and the two have to agree. The row where they disagree is the one to redo.
