How do you find the GCF of two numbers?
List the factors of each number (or use prime factorization) and pick the largest one they have in common. For 8 and 12, the common factors are 1, 2, and 4, so the GCF is 4.
Can every fraction be simplified?
No. A fraction is already in its simplest form when its numerator and denominator share no common factor other than 1 - for example, 5/9 cannot be reduced any further, since its GCF is 1.
