Find Any Pi Digit by Position - Pi Digit Calculator Tool

Our Pi digit calculator allows you to find any specific digit in the decimal expansion of π (pi) at a given position after the decimal point. Simply enter a position number from 1 to 1 billion, and instantly discover which digit is located at that exact position.

    How Pi Digit Search Works

Our online Pi digit finder uses a pre-computed database of Pi's first billion decimal places. The system enables you to:

    • Find specific digits - enter any position and get the exact value
    • Explore different positions - from the first digits to billionth positions
    • Study Pi's structure - analyze digit distribution patterns
    • Verify hypotheses - for mathematical research purposes

    Famous Positions in Pi

There are many fascinating positions and patterns within π:

    • Position 762 - where the famous Feynman point begins, a sequence of six consecutive nines (999999)
    • First 100 positions - contain all digits from 0 to 9
    • Position 314 - symbolically matching Pi's first three digits (3.14)
    • The millionth position - digit 1, long considered symbolic

    Applications of Pi Digit Search

The Pi digit locator tool is used for:

    • Educational purposes - studying properties of transcendental numbers
    • Mathematical research - analyzing digit distribution in π
    • Programming - testing Pi calculation algorithms
    • Entertainment - discovering interesting numerical patterns

Pi (π) is an irrational and transcendental number, meaning its decimal expansion never ends and never repeats in a periodic pattern.

    Calculation Accuracy

Our tool provides access to Pi's first billion digits with absolute precision. All values are verified by mathematical algorithms and correspond to official π calculations with the highest degree of accuracy.

Use our free online Pi digit search to explore this amazing mathematical constant and discover new patterns in the infinite sequence of π digits.

    FAQ

Which digit is position number 1?

Positions are counted after the decimal point, so the whole part 3 is not numbered at all: in π = 3.14159265… position 1 is 1, position 2 is 4 and position 5 is 9. The 100th digit of pi is 9.

Where do the digits come from and how far do they go?

The answer is read from a stored sequence of the first 1,000,000,000 decimal digits of pi, so any position from 1 to 1 billion is a direct lookup rather than a fresh computation. That is also why the form refuses positions beyond the billionth digit.

Are the digits of pi random?

Pi is irrational and transcendental, so its decimal expansion never ends and never becomes periodic — but it is not random either, since every digit is uniquely determined. Whether pi is "normal", meaning each digit appears one time in ten in the long run, is still an open problem, although in the first billion digits each of the ten digits occurs very close to 10% of the time.
