    FAQ

How does the calculator handle a shift that runs past midnight?

Both times are converted to minutes since midnight and subtracted. If the end time is earlier than the start time, the interval is assumed to continue into the next day and 24 hours are added — so 11:00 pm to 7:00 am returns 8 hours, never a negative value.

Does the result subtract lunch breaks?

No. The calculator returns the raw span between the two times you enter. For paid hours, subtract unpaid breaks yourself: a 9:00 am to 5:30 pm day is 8 hours 30 minutes on the clock, or 8 hours once a 30-minute lunch is taken out.

What is the difference between 12:00 am and 12:00 pm?

12:00 am is midnight, the first minute of the day, and 12:00 pm is noon. Mixing them up is the most common error in 12-hour time and shifts the answer by exactly 12 hours.
