How does the calculator work out the date?
It subtracts weeks × 7 plus the extra days from today: 6 weeks and 6 days is 48 calendar days back. Every day counts, weekends and holidays included, and the answer is given together with its day of the week.
Why does this calculator also show a due date?
Because pregnancy is dated in completed weeks from the first day of the last menstrual period. The date found by the calculator is treated as that starting point, and the estimated due date is 280 days — 40 weeks — later, which is Naegele's rule.
Why can the days field only go up to 6?
Because 7 days is one more week: the pair "weeks and days" is unique only while the days part stays between 0 and 6. Entering 0 days means a whole number of weeks — 6 weeks and 0 days is exactly 42 days ago.
