FAQ
How is the countdown to a holiday counted?
The countdown measures whole calendar days from today at midnight to the date of the holiday, so a holiday tomorrow shows one day left. Weekends and working days are counted alike, and the figure is recalculated every day.
What happens after the holiday has passed this year?
The calculator switches to the next occurrence automatically, so the page always counts down to the nearest future date. A multi-day holiday such as Ramadan or Hanukkah stays current until its last day, not its first.
Why do some holidays fall on a different date every year?
Only fixed-date holidays such as Christmas (25 December) or New Year keep the same date. Easter follows the lunar rule, Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November, and Ramadan or Chinese New Year follow their own calendars. For those the date is stored year by year: from 2025 to 2040 for most holidays, and to 2035 for the lunar-calendar ones.
